VASHON ISLAND, WA – September 4, 2023 – It's time to gather once again with island neighbors, both new and old, for a night filled with smiles, laughter, music, and heartwarming moments at CHRCH. Vashon's beloved entertainment institution is back with an irresistible irreverence that promises to tickle your funny bone and celebrate this proudly eccentric community.
For years, a show that needs no introduction (but we'll give it one anyway, with a playful wink) united hundreds of islanders in laughter, exploring the quirks of Island life while celebrating the vibrant Vashon community. Now, CHRCH is resurrecting the joyful exuberance of those times, delivering the dose of cheer we all need right now, and yes, they're still making it rain with laughter!
What to Expect: For those who were there, you'll be delighted to know that many of your favorite cast members, writers, and characters are making a comeback. But that's not all! New faces and fresh perspectives will grace the CHRCH stage, bringing a wave of excitement and energy. The Holy Roller Radio Players will once again twist, spin, fluff, and fold fresh news from the heart of Vashon life, and a fresh new CHRCH House Band is poised to melodiously rise and be heard!
A Special Surprise: And if rumors are to be believed, there's a preacher in the house. Pews are filling up fast, so make sure to secure your tickets today! PLUS! CHRCH offering two performances on September 17: one at 4PM and a second at 7PM.
Comedy, Music, and More!! Experience an irrepressibly irreverent Vashonical view of Island Life like never before. Prepare to be entertained, amused, and moved by the unparalleled talent that CHRCH brings to the stage.
What the Stars Say: David Godsey, one of the show's original members, expressed his excitement, saying, "This is a long-awaited moment! That reverend in my head has been getting pretty noisy! It's way past time to let him out!" Godsey continued, “I look around at how divided our culture is now. I think it’s absolutely crucial to be able to laugh at ourselves and also feel gratitude for this community.”
Regarding the team that will bring CHRCH to the stage, David says, “It’s a brilliant cast of Vashonites! I’m thrilled to welcome back to the stage a lot of the original members, and it’s exciting to welcome new talent to the players.”
Mik Kuhlman, another cherished member of the CHRCH team, added, "The love for the show has not wavered. The love Vashon has for itself runs deep. People lined up an hour and a half before doors opened at our last show! We just love to laugh at ourselves! And the ideas that actually make it to the stage are not the half of it!"
Jon Whalen couldn't contain his enthusiasm, exclaiming, "People stop me and ask, 'What ever happened to that Sunday show at O-Space?' Well, now I can tell them: 'September 17, you're gonna find out!'"
